Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

FitForHire ("we," "us," or "our") is a browser extension and associated web service that tailors your resume and cover letter to individual job postings using AI. The service is accessible at fitforhire.app.

2. What data we collect

We collect the minimum data required to provide the service:

• Google account information — your name, email address, and profile picture, obtained via Google OAuth when you sign in. We use these to identify your account.
• Your resume template — the plain-text or Markdown file you upload. It is stored securely on our servers and used exclusively to generate tailored documents for you.
• Job posting text — the visible text content of the page you are viewing when you click "Tailor Documents." This is sent to our server only at the moment you click the button. We do not continuously monitor your browsing.
• Generated documents — the tailored resume and cover letter PDFs produced for each job you process. These are stored temporarily so you can re-download them from the extension's recent-jobs list.

3. What data we do NOT collect

• We do not track which websites you visit.
• We do not collect any data from pages you visit unless you explicitly click "Tailor Documents."
• We do not sell, share, or license your personal data to third parties.
• We do not use your data to train AI models.

4. How we use your data

• To authenticate you and associate your resume template with your account.
• To generate tailored resumes and cover letters when you request them.
• To store generated documents so you can download them later.
• To diagnose errors and improve the reliability of the service.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to deliver FitForHire:

• Google OAuth — for authentication. Google's Privacy Policy applies to the sign-in flow.
• Anthropic Claude API — job posting text and your resume are sent to Anthropic's API to generate tailored documents. Anthropic's Privacy Policy applies. We use the API under a no-training data agreement.
• Microsoft Azure — our backend servers and storage run on Azure in the East US 2 region. Microsoft's Privacy Policy applies.

6. Data retention

• Your resume template is retained until you delete your account or replace it with a new upload.
• Generated job documents (tailored resume + cover letter PDFs) are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted.
• Account information (name, email) is retained until you request deletion.

7. Browser extension permissions

The FitForHire browser extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab / scripting — to read the text of the current tab when you click "Tailor Documents." We only access the tab you are on, only when you invoke the action.
• storage — to store your authentication token locally in the browser, so you remain signed in.
• identity — to open the Google OAuth sign-in window.
• downloads — to save the generated PDF files to your computer.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you.
• Delete your account and all associated data (resume template, generated documents, account info). Email us at hello@fitforhire.app to request deletion.
• Replace your resume template at any time via the extension's setup page.

9. Security

Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Data at rest is stored in Azure Blob Storage with encryption at rest enabled. Access to your data requires authentication with a valid JWT token.

10. Children's privacy

FitForHire is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you via the extension or email.
